Welcome!

Welcome!

Hi everyone!

I'm so excited to start this site (at last). For the last decade my friends have been telling me to write a blog so, never one to delay, here it is!

Although I'm naturally a very private person, I want to share some of my life with you.

I have always suffered from anxiety, but when I was 20 years old I went to university and it became unbearable. I started seeking help and a long (and ongoing) journey of exploration began.

After six years of various interventions and little improvement I saw, by chance, a documentary about girls with autism. I immediately recognised myself in it and, aged 26, I received a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndome, or High-Functioning Autism.

While this was a relief and has led to a great improvement in my mental health, it began another, different, journey of exploration.

That journey is what this blog is for. The ups and downs of life, the joys and difficulties of being on the spectrum, my experiences, opinions, and thoughts.

While it is written though the lens of an autistic person and will (hopefully) therefore be of interest to other autistic people or those interested in autism, it is as much written through the lens of a woman, a white person, a Londoner, and everything else that makes up my identity. Therefore its relatability will (again, hopefully) be wider spread than any single group of people.

So, welcome to the blog, and happy reading!
